This is a nice concise biography of Lincoln. It strips some of the myth away and leaves you with a more realistic view of the man. In many respects, his accomplishments are even more impressive as a mere human with many flaws. At the same time, the english errors can be distracting at some points, and I find the authors editorializing a bit naive and flawed. For instance, I doubt anyone would objectively believe that freeing the black people was the start of race problems in America, rather that it was more likely the start of improving them. While it is a short read, how it is broken up is very strange and confusing. I read many parts were in one “paragraph” the author says one thing then contradicts themselves in the next. For a historical work, the author interjects too much of their own opinion often writing lines not known to be true. In one such paragraph he describes Mary Todd Lincoln as a “spoiled brat.” There are no references available so I’m not sure where any of the books information is coming from. All in all I’m very disappointed in this book and don’t think the author paints Lincoln in a light that he deserves. Read Online ABRAHAM LINCOLN: National Hero. The Entire Life Story.
